Jason Robertson: The Mandalorian
A long, long time ago, in fact it was last Tuesday, in a galaxy far away, known as Hamilton's First Ontario Centre, Jason Robertson did what he does best. With the game on the line, and the Frontenacs staring down defeat, he took a rebound off a Jacob Paquette blaster point shot, and buried a rebound to tie the game and secure the point for his team.
For Jason Robertson, it was just business as usual. Scoring the clutch goal wasn't personal, ending the Bulldogs chance to secure just their second win of the season in front of an excited home crowd wasn't personal, it's just simply what he does.
Now sitting with 7 goals and 18 assists in 14 games, the 6'2 forward is closing in on a two-point per game pace, and is carrying an entire team on his back. Kingston is sitting nice and cozy in a post-season position, when pundits had them sinking deep into the sarlacc pit.
After being a team player for three seasons with Kingston, Jason Robertson is going to be something different this season. He is going to be changed by his own skill, he is going to evolve into a more powerful being. The power forward is being tasked with being a gun-for-hire, a mercenary out for goals, a bounty hunter to be feared by all.
With the near certainty that he will be traded to one of the far reaches of the galaxy, the clock is ticking for the forty goal scorer. Could he land up with the empire's Oshawa Generals, will he support the rebel movement in Ottawa? Will he find himself in the swamps of Dagobah, or the nearby swamps of Saginaw? Is he destined to be a Knight of the Old Republic in London? Only time will tell.
Until that day comes, Jason Robertson will continue to be the most feared player in the league, continuing to dawn the sharp yellow of the Frontenacs. There are few in the FOHL that are capable of breaking games open and contributing the kind of offense he does. Whatever teams he plays for come this off-season is an instant Championship favorite.
