Intangibles List

Image
Last year we took at the top players sorted by certain attributes. When it came to captains, we ranked players by their level of leadership. That ranking definitely played a part in the season, as reigning champion Ryan Cranford was dealt from the Kingston Frontenacs to the Erie Otters, where he helped the young squad out of the first round. This year, we're expecting the new leader to have a similar impact on a squad that's looking to make the jump into contention. Similarly, in honor of a big UFC event, we ranked the top heavyweights in the league by strength alone. This article will provide a fresh update of that in 2019, as well as as a number of other lists. This should provide some quick insight in to what players are poised to have a major impact this season. Leadership 10. Macauly Carson, F (Ottawa 67s) - 43 LE 9. Luke Boka, F (Sudbury Wolves) - 44 LE 8. Kyle Maclean, F (Kitchener Rangers) - 44 LE 7. Matthew Struthers, F (North Bay Battalion) - 4

2019 Draft Weekend Recap

Image
Another whirlwind weekend has come and gone for the FOHL. We saw all 20 GMs, and a few assistants as well gather for a spectacular couple days that saw the Import Draft, Priority Draft and an unprecedented level of trade activity. It would be impossible to recap everything that happened, but some moves completely altered the landscape of the league. We are here to examine the top 3 additions that teams have made over the offseason and the draft weekend, 1. Ryan Merkley 2. Allan McShane 3. Steve! The Barrie Colts came into the draft without a lot of draft capital, but also not a lot of needs. They were poised to emerge as one of the league's top teams, and cemented that status by acquiring Ryan Merkley and Allan McShane to pad a stacked lineup. They did add a solid young forward in the Import draft, but looking towards the future, adding an Assistant GM in Steve(!) aka Sean might be the biggest long term addition. 1. Liam Arnsby 2. Jacob Frasca 3.  Ole Bjørgv

[1]. Windsor Spitfires vs [8]. Kitchener Rangers Head to Head Record:  6 - 3 Windsor 4 - 6 Windsor Leading Scorers: Matthew Strome (WIN) - 23G, 45A Rickard Hugg (KIT) - 28G, 39A The West has been something of an anomaly all year, where only a couple teams took half measures to compete, compared to the backdrop of the brutal All-In East. Windsor walks away as the top seed, doing much of their building in the offseason and coasting to the top. Speaking of coasting, the Kitchener Rangers ladies and gentlemen. 4-1 Spitfires over Rangers. [2].  Erie Otters vs [7]. Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds Head to Head Record:  1 - 4 Erie 5 - 3 Erie Leading Scorers:  Barrett Hayton (ERI) - 24G, 41A Owen Robinson (SSM) - 17G, 53A He came in to the league, traded the best player available and stole our hearts in the process. Pistol Pete puts the finishing touches on his crowning first season by taking the forgotten Otters, tearing them down and building the

[1]. Ottawa 67's vs [8]. Sudbury Wolves Head to Head Record:  1 - 6 Ottawa 6 - 2 Ottawa Leading Scorer:  Tye Fellhaber (OTT) - 48G, 49A Danil Antropov (SUD) - 17G, 44A Only one thing is for sure in this series, and that's the fact that Sudbury will host two home games. Hopefully the beer is cheap that night because this one could get ugly. Ottawa boasts an All-Star squad, and while the Wolves have a promising young team, this one is a slam dunk for the 67's. 4-0 67's over Wolves. [2]. North Bay Battalion vs [7]. Kingston Frontenacs Head to Head Record: 5 - 0 North Bay 1 - 3 North Bay Leading Scorer: Kevin Hancock (NB) - 40G, 35A Tyler Burnie (KGN) - 16G, 34A North Bay sold off some of their weapons but still end up the second seed in the strong Eastern conference, and they should make quick work of their competition in the first round. Kingston isn't a team to be taken lightly, as they refused to bottom out and tank,
