Predicting the Post-Season (Western Conference)
[1]. Windsor Spitfires vs [8]. Kitchener Rangers
Head to Head Record:
6 - 3 Windsor
4 - 6 Windsor
Leading Scorers:
Matthew Strome (WIN) - 23G, 45A
Rickard Hugg (KIT) - 28G, 39A
The West has been something of an anomaly all year, where only a couple teams took half measures to compete, compared to the backdrop of the brutal All-In East. Windsor walks away as the top seed, doing much of their building in the offseason and coasting to the top. Speaking of coasting, the Kitchener Rangers ladies and gentlemen. 4-1 Spitfires over Rangers.
[2]. Erie Otters vs [7]. Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds
Head to Head Record:
1 - 4 Erie
5 - 3 Erie
Leading Scorers:
Barrett Hayton (ERI) - 24G, 41A
Owen Robinson (SSM) - 17G, 53A
He came in to the league, traded the best player available and stole our hearts in the process. Pistol Pete puts the finishing touches on his crowning first season by taking the forgotten Otters, tearing them down and building them back up in the span of months. The Soo navigated their post-championship season admirably, taking a step back but never losing that competitive edge. Otters 4-2 over the Greyhounds.
[3]. Saginaw Spirit vs [6]. Sarnia Sting
Head to Head Records:
5 - 1 Saginaw
2 - 4 Saginaw
4 - 1 Saginaw
5 - 6 Saginaw
3 - 4 Sarnia
Leading Scorers:
Owen Tippett (SAG) - 30G, 50A
Huge Leufvenius (SAR) - 28G, 30A
The Spirit have been a dominant team all season, and after jockeying for the first seed, will settle for some tougher competition down the stretch as the third seed. With rock solid goaltending, they look poised to control this series, much like they have the season series. The Sting are no slouch though. They're a team that could have added more at the deadline to make more a wave, but even in their current state should keep the Spirit focused. 4-2 Spirit over the Sting.
[4]. London Knights vs [5]. Guelph Storm
Head to Head Record:
2 - 0 Guelph
2 - 5 London
5 - 2 Guelph
3 - 1 London
3 - 7 Guelph
Leading Scorers:
Chris Paquette (LDN) - 29G, 35A
Cole Perfetti (GUE) - 22G, 39A
No surprise again that the 4-5 seed is going to be the most competitive series in the Western Conference. London was a team that sold off a lot of talent and should have probably conceded home ice, and Guelph is a team that added a lot and should probably be in the legit contender tier. But what we have here is a perfect...storm /CSI music. 4-3 Storm over the Knights.
