Predicting The Post-Season (Eastern Conference)
[1]. Ottawa 67's vs [8]. Sudbury Wolves
Head to Head Record:
1 - 6 Ottawa
6 - 2 Ottawa
Leading Scorer:
Tye Fellhaber (OTT) - 48G, 49A
Danil Antropov (SUD) - 17G, 44A
Only one thing is for sure in this series, and that's the fact that Sudbury will host two home games. Hopefully the beer is cheap that night because this one could get ugly. Ottawa boasts an All-Star squad, and while the Wolves have a promising young team, this one is a slam dunk for the 67's. 4-0 67's over Wolves.
[2]. North Bay Battalion vs [7]. Kingston Frontenacs
Head to Head Record:
5 - 0 North Bay
1 - 3 North Bay
1 - 3 North Bay
Leading Scorer:
Kevin Hancock (NB) - 40G, 35A
Kevin Hancock (NB) - 40G, 35A
Tyler Burnie (KGN) - 16G, 34A
North Bay sold off some of their weapons but still end up the second seed in the strong Eastern conference, and they should make quick work of their competition in the first round. Kingston isn't a team to be taken lightly, as they refused to bottom out and tank, and have transitioned from competitor to rebuilder quite gracefully. 4-1 Battalion over Frontenacs.
[3]. Oshawa Generals vs [6]. Peterborough Petes
Head to Head Record:
4 -5 Oshawa
2 - 4 Oshawa
1 - 5 Oshawa
4 - 7 Oshawa
7 - 0 Oshawa
Leading Scorer:
Morgan Frost (OSH) - 32G, 53A
Jean-Luc Foudy (PET) - 22G, 43A
The greatest rivalry in the OHL gets to play out in first round action, but there might not be a bigger mismatch this post-season. The Generals have been a power house all season, and have feasted on the younger Petes. Though fans will be excited for this one, the PMC won't be seeing more than it's two games required for a clean Gennies sweep. 4-0 Generals over Petes.
[4]. Barrie Colts vs [5]. Niagara Ice Dogs
Head to Head Record:
1 - 3 Niagara
5 - 7 Niagara
6 - 2 Barrie
7 - 5 Barrie
3 - 3 Tie
2 - 6 Barrie
3 - 5 Barrie
8 - 1 Niagara
Leading Scorer:
Ryan Suzuki (BAR) - 16G, 60A
Nate Schnarr (NIA) - 29G, 52A
Alright, finally a series that should be an epic clash of evenly contested teams. If Barrie hadn't scored in the final minute of a game that ended with a 3-3 tie, these teams would have split the season series 4 games a piece. It seemed Barrie had the Ice Dogs number until a recent trouncing that may have moved the needle in Niagara's favor. 4-3 Ice Dogs over Colts.
