FOHL Players of the Month (December)


December's Players of the Month brought to you by SkipTheDishes, official partner of the FOHL


Player of the Month - Tye Felhaber (Ottawa 67's)
On a team chock full of All-Stars, Felhaber has settled in nicely during his overager season. He's still searching for an NHL team to take a chance on him with a professional contract, and the 67 points in 40 games that the forward has produced certainly should be catching scouts eyes. He's also an incredible +53 on the campaign, basically whenever he steps on the ice he's scoring and the other team isn't.


Goalie of the Month - Kyle Keyser (Oshawa Generals)
His second time earning goaltender of the month honors, Keyser has the distinction of being the only goaltender to be named to this list and also be relegated to back up duties. He had been leading the league in goaltender statistics, but the Generals went out and upgraded with UPL from the North Bay Battalion. In his final season in the FOHL, time will tell if Keyser remains happy being second fiddle on the Gennies.


Rookie of the Month - Quinton Byfield (Hamilton Bulldogs)
New team, same Quinton. He's got a ten point lead on the next best rookie in the league, with five less games played. His pace has slowed since he joined the Bulldogs, but that hasn't stopped him from being the league's runaway best rookie. Scouts still rave about him being a top 3 pick in the NHL draft in 2020, but in the meantime he's got the FOHL to conquer.


Defenseman of the Month - Mac Hollowell (Windsor Spitfires)
In a crowded class of great defensemen, mostly between the 67's and Oshawa Generals collection of blueliners, Mac Hollowell has established himself as one of the league's best. What the FOHL might be forgetting is that Oshawa and Ottawa won't meet in the league finals, and some lucky team out West is going to have the honor of taking on one of those behemoths. Hollowell's production gives Windsor the leg up on their competition to earn that coveted spot.

2019 Draft Weekend Recap

Another whirlwind weekend has come and gone for the FOHL. We saw all 20 GMs, and a few assistants as well gather for a spectacular couple days that saw the Import Draft, Priority Draft and an unprecedented level of trade activity. It would be impossible to recap everything that happened, but some moves completely altered the landscape of the league. We are here to examine the top 3 additions that teams have made over the offseason and the draft weekend, 1. Ryan Merkley 2. Allan McShane 3. Steve! The Barrie Colts came into the draft without a lot of draft capital, but also not a lot of needs. They were poised to emerge as one of the league's top teams, and cemented that status by acquiring Ryan Merkley and Allan McShane to pad a stacked lineup.
